YSolar was founded by Jiyaad Anthony, based in Cape Town. His background spans mechatronics, renewable energy, embedded systems, IoT hardware, and energy data pipelines, with practical experience in PV system simulation and financial feasibility studies from his time at the Centre for Renewable and Sustainable Energy Studies.
The business started from a straightforward observation: homeowners researching solar are almost always advised by the companies that stand to profit from the sale. Those companies have an incentive to recommend larger systems, and rarely account for factors like shading, winter production drop-offs, or how a household's actual load profile compares to their assumptions. The result is installations that underperform relative to what was promised.
YSolar's approach is the inverse: measure first, then advise. We deploy redeployable energy monitors, collect real consumption data, and produce a vendor-neutral feasibility report before any installer quote is discussed. We do not sell hardware or earn commission on installations.
